Something About George Brings George Harrison Story to Lichfield Garrick

A celebration of the life and music of George Harrison will come to Lichfield Garrick Theatre this winter as Something About George – The George Harrison Story arrives as part of its acclaimed spring tour.

The show will be performed at the Lichfield Garrick on Wednesday 11 February, starting at 7.30pm, and is one of nine venues included in the second leg of the production’s tour of Britain and Ireland.

Following sell-out performances and widespread praise during its autumn tour, Something About George returns to the road after captivating audiences at venues across the country. The production comes from the team behind Something About Lennon and Something About Simon, which celebrate the lives and music of John Lennon and Paul Simon.

The spring tour opens at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton on 1st February, before visiting Ilkley, Lichfield, Worcester, Darlington, Liverpool, Blackburn, Coventry and concluding at Lincoln’s New Theatre Royal on 1st March.

The show is fronted by Daniel Taylor, a West End performer and musician, who tells the story of the man often referred to as “the quiet Beatle”. Alongside the biographical storytelling, audiences can enjoy live performances of Harrison’s most loved songs from his solo career.

Daniel Taylor trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and has appeared in numerous stage productions, including Blood Brothers, Twopence to Cross The Mersey and By The Waters of Liverpool. He has previously played John Lennon in Lennon Through a Glass Onion and earlier this year led the tour of Something About Lennon – The John Lennon Story.

He is joined on stage by a talented live band led by Musical Director Joe Smithson.

The production features songs including My Sweet Lord, Something, Got My Mind Set on You and Handle With Care, celebrating Harrison’s solo work as well as music from supergroup The Traveling Wilburys, which also included Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty. As expected, the show also includes a selection of much-loved Beatles classics.

Something About George was written by Jon Fellowes and is produced by Bill Elms, Jon Fellowes and Gary Edward Jones of Something About Productions. The show premiered at the Liverpool Theatre Festival in 2021, before receiving accolades on its inaugural tour and at the Edinburgh Fringe.

We had an amazing reaction from audiences when we opened this latest tour last autumn, including two sold-out shows in George Harrison’s birthplace of Liverpool. Despite it now being almost a quarter of a century since the world lost George Harrison, he continues to live on through his wonderful music.

Something About George celebrates both the man and the legacy he left behind. It’s a very moving tribute, with one musician authentically telling the story and honouring the music of another. – Bill Elms, Co-producer
