The hospice has been supporting local families for over 40 years.
In July, Lichfield Gospel Choir put on a concert and a workshop for beginners to experience the joy of gospel song at Sts Peter and Paul Church, Lichfield. Both were so generously supported that the choir were delighted to be able to make a healthy donation to St Giles Hospice.
The hospice has been supporting local families for over 40 years and spends close to £10 million a year providing specialist services. With, on average, between only 20-25 per cent of this amount being funded by the Government, providers like St Giles rely heavily on donations.
Lichfield Gospel Choir were delighted to welcome Lisa Thompson to one of their evening rehearsals to present a cheque in front of the choir members.
Upon receiving the donation, St Giles Fundraising Team commented said “the financial challenges facing hospices like ours have never been greater”.
Rising costs and increased demand for our services are putting pressure on our resources. Now more than ever, we rely on the generosity of people like you to ensure we can continue delivering vital care to local people, and their loved ones, living with a terminal illness… the support of our community is vital for our future.
Gerbo Huisman, Chair of Lichfield Gospel Choir, added that “I am proud that we have chosen to support our local hospice with a donation from the proceeds of our concert”.
As a choir, we believe that music has the power to bring people together, create moments of joy and comfort, and make a positive difference to our members and our community.
St Giles Hospice provides such important care and support to patients and their families, and knowing that the money raised through our singing can help support their wonderful work makes our concert even more meaningful to us.
