Her work will also this month be featured at Griffin Arts Studio.

Local Artist Anne Mapley has enjoyed painting since her retirement in 2017. She has attended classes with Mary Griffin and learned a wide range of techniques which she applies in her mixed media artwork.
Earlier this year, Anne appeared on the Lichfield Radio HANGRY Lunchtime Show to talk about her hobby and offered for sale a seascape painting called Let the Light Pour In to raise money for the Sutton Coldfield Cancer Support Centre. This painting has since sold, along with several others painted by Anne, and her efforts to support the centre are continuing as Anne offers another of her works for sale.
When asked about her inspiration for this piece, Anne said she had been thinking about using different colours for water, and particularly not very realistic colours. And despite some choppy waves in the composition, the use of green in the seascape made her think of serenity, which is what gave the painting its name.

It is painted in watercolours and gouache and Anne used a palette knife to give texture and effect to this piece. Anne loves to use different tools for painting, not just brushes. In fact her favourite tool to use is an old wooden peg!
On the sale of Serenity, Anne commented: “I hope that anyone who buys this painting feels its serenity.”
The Cancer Support Centre brought me peace and serenity during a turbulent time for my family. So I am thrilled the proceeds will support the Centre, which is a place of sanctuary and support for so many locally.
If you are interested in buying the painting, it is framed and measures approximately 54 by 44cms. It costs £95. Please contact positivity@lichfieldradio.org and we will put you in touch with Anne to arrange the sale.

Anne Mapley is one of the featured local artists from the Lichfield Market Street Artists group, who are exhibiting their artwork and cards for sale at Griffin Arts Studio above Subway in Market Street from Friday 13 November to Friday 20 November, 10.30am-4pm (closed Sunday 15 November).
