Visitors of all ages can enjoy a wide range of activities and attractions.
Lichfield Waterworks Trust is inviting the community to attend “Flow and Grow”, a family-friendly event celebrating the importance of water, nature, history, and community heritage.
The event will take place this coming Sunday, 17 May, from 10:00am to 4:00pm, at Sandfields Pumping Station, Chesterfield Road, Lichfield WS14 0AA.
Visitors of all ages can enjoy a wide range of activities and attractions, with free entry throughout the day.
The event highlights the historic role Sandfields played in sustaining life in the Black Country during the 19th century, while also celebrating the role of water in nurturing the natural environment today.
Activities and attractions will include a ‘Huge Plant’ stall featuring indoor and outdoor plants and vegetables, free creative arts activities for children and free filtration and microscope hands-on experiences for all ages.
Discounted tours of the Beam Engine House will also be on offer, with advance booking via Eventbrite recommended, as well as Sandfields history displays, a variety of indoor games and pre-loved book sales.
Plus, there will be portable engine demonstrations, refreshments – including homemade cakes – and a ‘Pop up Lunch’ truck by ‘Get Out and Taste’.
Organisers say the event is designed to bring together history, sustainability, education and community fun in a welcoming outdoor setting. Trust Chairman Katy Shore-Kapsis said:
