On Wednesday evening, 15th April 2026, the George and Dragon in Alrewas hosted a vibrant and successful charity fundraiser in support of Animal Rescue Volunteers. The event, which included a raffle and quiz night, brought together members of the community and dedicated volunteers for an evening of entertainment and generosity.
Animal Rescue Volunteers is a local non-profit organisation focused on the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of stray and abandoned animals in the Lichfield area. Funds raised during the event will help provide essential veterinary care, food, shelter and comfort while animals await their forever homes.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of a large ceremonial cheque totalling an impressive £1,010, raised through sponsorship by Karen Lowrence-Joiner following her completion of the Fradley 10k run. The cheque was proudly accepted by members of the Animal Rescue Volunteers team.
Guests also took part in the raffle, with prizes including bottles of wine and boxes of chocolates, adding to the fun and community spirit of the night.
