On Tuesday evening, some of Lichfield Radio’s hosts were out supporting fellow host and Head of Art and Culture, Joss Musgrove Knibb, at the Top Hat Open Mic Night held at the Garrick Studio in Lichfield.
As the name suggests, the concept is simple; a top hat, a microphone, and an evening of live performances in a relaxed and friendly setting.
The event takes place every two months and costs just £3 to attend. The next session will be held on 16th June, with tickets available via the Garrick Theatre website.
When booking, guests can choose whether to put their name into the hat to perform or simply attend as a spectator.
Performers are encouraged to share their own creative work, and the evening featured a wide variety of pieces, including poetry, children’s stories, spooky tales, and humorous and uplifting writing — often inspired by personal experiences.
The atmosphere throughout the evening was warm, supportive and inclusive, with both performers and audience members enjoying the chance to connect through creativity.
Those looking for something a little different, or a chance to share their own work, are warmly encouraged to come along to the next event and enjoy a great night out with like-minded people.
