“It was scary at first but everyone was really nice.”
A talented pupil from Stagecoach Lichfield has enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime experience after winning a nationwide competition to walk the red carpet and interview some of the biggest stars of the UK Theatre scene at the UK Theatre Awards 2026 with Encore.
Elora, who attends Stagecoach Lichfield, was selected from entries across the UK, after sending in a fantastic audition tape showcasing her interviewing skills and her fabulous personality. The win gave Elora the exciting opportunity to step into the world of entertainment journalism and meet some of the evening’s most celebrated guests.
Accompanied by her Grandad, Elora took to the red carpet at the UK Theatre Awards 2026 with Encore on Monday 12 October, where she had the opportunity to interview a host of stars, gaining valuable experience, building her confidence and making memories to last a lifetime.
Among the stars Elora interviewed were Jodie Comer, Adrian Lester, Ash Hunter and La Voix.
Hosted by the fabulous La Voix of Drag Race fame, the UK Theatre Awards celebrated talent across UK theatre from standout performances to design to recognition for inclusivity in the theatre scene.
The experience was a fantastic opportunity for Elora to put her communication skills and confidence into practice in a high-profile setting, while enjoying an unforgettable day alongside her Grandad. This special prize was part of Stagecoach’s ongoing partnership with Society of London Theatre and UK Theatre, who even treated Elora and her Grandad to a theatre trip after the awards to see Mamma Mia!.
Elora had such a good time at the awards, saying the day was “so fun”.
It was scary at first but everyone was really nice. Their outfits were really great too. I loved La Voix’s dress as it was like a stage curtain and she had really sparkly shoes! She liked my outfit too. The singing in the show was amazing and I got to ask Jodie (Comer) about her favourite voices. Plus, I got to eat loads of cake before grandad and I went to watch Mamma Mia!.
Grandad Kevin was also over the moon that his granddaughter got to experience this very special night.
I found the day amazing, Elora was treated as a true VIP from start to finish, it was an honour and a privilege to accompany Elora and share the exciting experience. The arrangements for our trip were taken care of by Stagecoach working in partnership with Society of London Theatre and UK Theatre, we really can’t thank them all enough they were all so kind to Elora and there for her every step of the way.
Stagecoach have given Elora a lot of confidence and our day on the red carpet elevated that confidence even further thanks to the close attention of everyone. It was a day to remember for sure and a fabulous experience for Elora.
Elora’s achievement has also been celebrated by her principal at Stagecoach Lichfield who was delighted to see her pupil embrace the opportunity and come away with such an incredible experience.
Katie Howcroft, Principal of Stagecoach Lichfield, said “we are absolutely delighted that Elora entered the competition and went on to win from entries all across the UK”.
It takes courage to put yourself forward for an opportunity like this, and we are so proud that she took that step. Experiences like these are wonderful for building confidence, encouraging young people to step outside their comfort zones and discover what they are capable of. We are thrilled that Elora had this opportunity and that she was able to share such a special occasion with her Grandad.
Elora’s success is a wonderful example of what can happen when young people seize opportunities, challenge themselves and embrace new experiences.
