Call for runners to help end domestic abuse at the Lichfield 10K

Whether you’re an experienced athlete chasing a personal best or taking on your first ever 10K challenge, every step you take could help transform lives.

Pathway Project is calling on local runners to lace up their trainers and take on the Lichfield 10K (Sunday 13 September) this year to raise vital funds for people affected by domestic abuse across Staffordshire.

As one of the charities supported by this year’s popular Lichfield 10K event, Pathway Project is inviting runners of all abilities to turn their miles into meaningful change by raising sponsorship and helping to support survivors on their journey to safety and independence.

Whether you’re an experienced athlete chasing a personal best or taking on your first ever 10K challenge, every step you take could help transform lives.

The charity provides essential support services for adults, children and young people affected by domestic abuse, and funds raised through the event will help ensure that those experiencing abuse can access the support they need to feel safe, rebuild their confidence and thrive.

“We know that many local people will already be taking part in this fantastic community event,” said Selina Hughes, Fundraising Officer at Pathway Project.

By choosing to run for Pathway, local people can make their achievement even more meaningful and help us continue our life-changing work supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

Runners who choose to support Pathway Project will receive a fundraising pack filled with ideas and tips to maximise sponsorship, as well as a Pathway Project race T-shirt to wear during training and on race day.

The charity team will be on hand throughout the fundraising journey, regularly checking in with runners and sharing their progress on social media to help boost support from friends, family and the wider community.

On race day itself, participants can also look forward to a dedicated pre-race drinks area to help them stay hydrated and ready for the challenge ahead. A team of enthusiastic Pathway Project volunteers will be lining the course, cheering runners on every step of the way and providing a welcome boost when it is needed most.

“Seeing our supporters in their Pathway T-shirts out on the course will be incredibly special,” Said Sam Booth, the CEO of Pathway Project.

Every penny raised makes a real difference and helps us support more people to live free from abuse. To us, every runner who raises funds for us is a real everyday hero.
