Lichfield & Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust (LHCRT) has received a generous £500 donation from Lichfield Running Club, given in appreciation of the Trust’s support at last year’s Lichfield 10k.
Volunteers from LHCRT played a key role on the day, staffing the event’s water station and keeping hundreds of runners hydrated as they tackled the popular route through Lichfield and the surrounding villages.
The cheque was presented to representatives from LHCRT’s events team, green and grounds team and Duke of Edinburgh volunteers. The donation will help support the Trust’s ongoing work to restore the historic Lichfield Canal, a project powered almost entirely by volunteers and community fundraising.
Being part of the Lichfield 10k is always a great morning for our events team volunteers. We’ve helped out each year for more than twenty years, since the route crossed the line of the Lichfield Canal at Darnford Lane.
