6th – 9th May 2026
Highbury Theatre Centre, Sutton Coldfield
From The Top Theatre Company
One of the most outrageously funny musicals ever staged, Mel Brooks’ The Producers comes to Sutton Coldfield this May. Performed by award-winning Shenstone-based theatre company From The Top, it promises a riot of music, costumes, mad pigeons and hilarious comedy.
The story follows Max Bialystock, a washed-up Broadway producer desperately searching for a hit to revive his career. Enter Leo Bloom, a mild-mannered accountant who, while reviewing Max’s books, realises a producer could actually make more money with a flop than with a hit. It’s the scheme Max has been waiting for.
Together, they set out to stage the worst show ever written; hiring a terrible director, assembling a completely unsuitable cast, and turning a questionable script into a goosestepping musical guaranteed to shock audiences. Naturally, things don’t go quite to plan, leaving Max and Leo to deal with the chaos that follows.
Bold, outrageous and packed with comedy, this is a musical that delivers big laughs and unforgettable moments and From The Top is excited to bring their latest production back to Highbury Theatre.
The musical, based on Mel Brooks’ original 1967 film, went on to win a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards and three Olivier Awards when it premiered in 2001. It has remained a firm favourite ever since, even inspiring a film remake starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in 2005.
The show runs from Wednesday 6th May to Saturday 9th May.
