New Lichfield Mayor Announces Grace Cares as Her Chosen Charity

The not-for-profit looks forward to supporting Rosie’s work “in any way we can”.

Lichfield’s new mayor, Councillor Rosie Harvey-Coggins, has announced she will champion local award-winning not-for-profit Grace Cares over her year-long term, which is set to involve support through events and fundraising initiatives.

Grace Cares works to make care more sustainable by rescuing equipment from landfill, reselling it affordably and reinvesting profits into initiatives that support older people and unpaid caregivers. It was named the winner of the ESG Leader Award, which honours organisations that exemplify sustainable practices, at last year’s national Social Care Leadership Awards.

Rosie, who was elected mayor last Wednesday, said she is “really looking forward to working with my chosen charity”, as well as with Friends 2 Friends, the chosen charity of newly-elected Sheriff Councillor Andrew Fox. Friends 2 Friends is another local charity, which supports people with learning disabilities, other vulnerable adults and their carers.

Grace Cares later added that “we can’t wait to see what positive changes you bring and to support you in any way we can.”

Local MP Dave Robertson congratulated both Rosie and Andrew, and thanked both the retiring mayor, Councillor Claire Pinder‑Smith, and the retiring sheriff, Reverend Ian Hayter, “for your work during the past year and for raising vital funds for Lichfield Arts and the Pathway Project”.
