A brave team of fundraisers is preparing to face one of the UK’s most haunted locations to raise vital funds for life-saving cancer treatment.
From 8pm on Monday 16th February 2026, the team will be locked inside Shepton Mallet Prison for a 12-hour Ghost Hunt Challenge, all in aid of The Stan Bowley Trust.

Built in 1625, Shepton Mallet Prison is the UK’s oldest prison and is steeped in more than 400 years of history, including executions and stories of despair. While most people avoid the site after dark, the fundraising team will spend the night exploring its chilling corridors, conducting paranormal investigations until 8am the following morning.
Their goal is to raise funds for CyberKnife treatment — a revolutionary, non-invasive form of robotic radiotherapy that offers hope to cancer patients across the UK.
Facing the past to fund the future
The challenge is both physically and emotionally demanding. The team will be locked inside the unheated, 17th-century prison, visiting areas linked to reported paranormal activity, including stories of the “White Lady” and unmarked graves of former inmates.
Spending 12 hours in a cold, haunted cell is a daunting prospect, but it pales in comparison to the challenges faced by those living with cancer.

About The Stan Bowley Trust and CyberKnife
