Lichfield Radio is delighted to announce the appointment of author, poet and historian Joss Knibb as the station’s Head of Arts and Culture.
With a rich background in journalism, public relations, and military and medieval history, Joss’s expertise is widely recognised both regionally and nationally.
Joss is the author of First Lines (Gazelle Press, 2013), a collection of letters from the trenches of WWI. On publication, First Lines became a WH Smith Recommended Read. Her second book, Lichfield in 50 Buildings (Amberley Publishing, 2016), explores the city’s history through its iconic architecture. She has frequently appeared on television and radio and is a dedicated advocate for our region’s arts and heritage, believing that creativity is for everyone, and a powerful force for good in our community.
A published poet, Joss was shortlisted for the post of Staffordshire Poet Laureate in 2024. She directs both Carl Knibb Art Ltd and Joss Musgrove Knibb Ltd, and plays a leading role in Lichfield’s creative scene by running the Word Perfect Creative Writing group, and hosting the popular Top Hat Spoken Word Open Mic event at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre. Additionally, she delivers workshops on poetry and fiction writing and offers manuscript services to writers of all genres.
Joss’s community involvement extends to her roles as Ambassador for The Lichfield and Hatherton Canal Restoration Trust, and member of the Lichfield Garrick Theatre’s Development Group. She is also a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Smiths of Lichfield, the city’s historic creative guild.
In addition to heading-up Lichfield Radio’s arts and culture offering, Joss will be presenting Drive Time shows and hosting the station’s arts podcast, This Art Works.
Joss is the former deputy editor of the Lichfield Gazette, and former editor and co-director of Citylife in Lichfield Magazines. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for celebrating Lichfield’s heritage and creative spirit, she brings years of experience, knowledge, and talent to the Lichfield Radio team.
