Lichfield came together this week in a spirit of unity and purpose as Pathway Project hosted its first-ever Pathway Connect. A new initiative designed to bring partners, supporters, and community organisations together in the fight against domestic abuse.
The event, held at The Hub St Mary’s marked a significant milestone for the charity with the official launch of their Domestic Abuse Charter, a call for businesses, community groups, and public bodies to publicly commit to recognising, responding to, and helping prevent domestic abuse.
Pathway Connect is about more than awareness. It’s about connection and collaboration. We wanted to create a space where local partners could come together, learn from one another, and find practical ways to make a difference. Tackling domestic abuse isn’t the job of one organisation; it’s something that takes a whole community.
Guests took part in an interactive word search that highlighted key aspects of domestic abuse from control and coercion to respect and support sparking meaningful conversations about the many ways abuse can manifest.
Later, Pathway’s CEO, gave a heartfelt presentation outlining the charity’s work across Lichfield and Tamworth, the impact of partner support, and the crucial next steps for the Charter. Attendees were then invited to take part in a hands-on activity, using star stickers to vote for the ideas and actions they felt were most valuable in creating meaningful, long-term support for survivors.
Representatives from across the city attended, including Lichfield Chamber of Commerce and Lichfield Radio, both of whom signed the Charter in support. Several local businesses have also pledged to sign up, showing their commitment to fostering safer workplaces and communities.
The Domestic Abuse Charter asks signatories to take practical steps such as displaying information about support services, offering staff training, and ensuring their workplaces and public spaces are safe and supportive for anyone affected by domestic abuse.
By signing the Charter, each organisation becomes part of a growing network of “Community Champions” helping to break down stigma, promote safety, and amplify the message that domestic abuse has no place in our community.
