Late Night Listeners Offer a Safe Haven on Lichfield’s Streets.

The Late Night Listeners, a long-standing community group of volunteers, are making a difference on Lichfield’s streets every other Saturday night, offering comfort, care and conversation to late-night revellers.

Predominantly made up of people from local churches, though open to all, the team sets up a base on the corner of Bird Street from around 10.30pm until 1am. From here, they provide hot and cold drinks, biscuits, sweets, flip flops and, perhaps most importantly, a listening ear for anyone who needs it.

The group has become a familiar and trusted presence, known as a safe haven with a positive reputation among both local people and visitors enjoying the city’s nightlife.

Entirely self-funded, the volunteers are supported by local councillors and receive generous, spontaneous donations from members of the public who value the role they play.

The Late Night Listeners are always eager for more people to get involved. Volunteering is open to all, and new team members will find themselves part of a welcoming group making a real impact on the wellbeing of Lichfield’s night-time community.
