Lichfield’s premier cutlery brand, Arthur Price, is confirmed as the first and lead sponsor of Lichfield Radio. This landmark partnership gives one of the city’s most iconic businesses top billing as the station prepares to launch in January 2026.

A New Voice for the Community
Launching on 19 January 2026, Lichfield Radio will provide a brand-new voice for the city, Burntwood and surrounding villages. Broadcasting online, the station will deliver a mix of live programmes and on-demand podcasts, all built around the uplifting mantra “Accentuating the Positive.”
My fellow director Ruth Redgate and I have been laying the foundations over the past year, with an ambition to create a station rooted in community spirit, celebrating local voices and creativity across the district.
A Free Platform for Artists, Community Organisations and Start-ups.
When Ruth and I first talked about launching Lichfield Radio, we wanted it to feel like it belonged to everyone in our area, something people could listen to at home, in the office, in cafés and beyond. To have such an iconic local business as our very first and lead sponsor is a liberating moment. With local business sponsorship like this, we can give a free platform to artists, community organisations and startups, and that is exactly what this station is about.
We are so grateful to Simon and James Price for their support. Their encouragement has been invaluable as we take these exciting first steps. Our focus will be on showcasing Culture, Sports, Business and History across Lichfield, Burntwood and the surrounding villages, helping people feel connected to the place they call home.
Arthur Price: Generations of Craftsmanship
Founded in 1902 in Birmingham, Arthur Price began as a small family workshop operated from founder Arthur’s living room, crafting his own tools after 12-hour factory shifts. From early innovations like creating the first chromium-plated spoons and forks (precursors to modern stainless steel), the company became Britain’s largest manufacturer of stainless steel flatware by mid-20th century. Its craftsmanship earned it prestigious commissions, including supplying top‑range cutlery for RMS Titanic’s maiden voyage in 1912. Over the decades, the firm adapted, surviving two World Wars by producing munitions, securing Royal Warrants from both Her Majesty the Queen and the Prince of Wales, and relocating its headquarters to Lichfield in the early 1980s. Now in its fifth generation, Arthur Price remains a symbol of enduring British craftsmanship and design.

Arthur Price has been part of this community for generations and wholeheartedly supports Lichfield Radio’s vision to celebrate this wonderful place we call home

Building Momentum
Momentum for Lichfield Radio is already building. Coverage of recent events such as the Barton Marina Artisan Market and the Lichfield Food & Drink Festival has boosted social media engagement and registrations, while local news stories are already being shared through the station’s website and social channels. Together, these early steps demonstrate the demand for a fresh local media platform with a strong community focus.
Community-Led and Giving Back
With the official launch now just months away, over one hundred and twenty people have already registered their interest as guests, presenters, volunteers and sponsors. More local businesses have since signed up and will be announced in September, supporting what will be a truly community-led station. In addition, we have pledged to donate 20% of Lichfield Radio’s net profit (the surplus that remains once all running costs have been covered) to our nominated charity, We Love Lichfield, ensuring the station gives back directly to the community it serves.
Looking Ahead to Launch
The response has been overwhelming. People are eager for a station that reflects their lives and their area, and that is exactly what we will deliver. From lively breakfast, lunch and drivetime shows and to podcasts celebrating local voices and achievements, we are building something that represents the very best of Lichfield, Burntwood and beyond.
The team is now shaping plans for a launch that will not only introduce the station but also highlight the unique character and heritage of the district. With support from local businesses, volunteers and listeners, Lichfield Radio will become a platform that inspires pride while reflecting the creativity and energy of the region.
Lichfield Radio officially launches on 19 January 2026, with a launch party at The Hub at St Mary’s on the 17th. Facebook Event Link.
