Designed to give volunteers the opportunity to pause, connect and recharge.

Grace Cares, the Lichfield-based social enterprise supporting the care sector, welcomed Nicola Kathryn Coaching to its latest Coffee, Cake and Catch Up session.
The event gave volunteers an opportunity to learn practical breathwork techniques that could help them manage stress and support their wellbeing.
Helping vulnerable people in the community can be hugely rewarding, but it can also take an emotional toll. As a not-for-profit organisation run predominantly by volunteers, Grace Cares believes it is important to look after the people who give their time so generously. The session encouraged them to ‘put their own oxygen mask on first’ before continuing to care for others.
Breathwork is a simple and accessible way to help regulate the nervous system, reduce stress and create moments of calm. The techniques shared during the session can be used by volunteers in their roles and in everyday life.
Grace Cares works to make sure everyone who gives their time feels welcome, valued and supported. Its volunteers have opportunities to make a meaningful difference while being part of a positive and caring community.
Emma Smith, Co-Founder of Grace Cares, said: “Our volunteers give so much to support people across our community, so it’s important we give something back.”
Sessions like this remind everyone that it’s okay to pause and look after themselves too.
Nicola Forsyth, of Nicola Kathryn Coaching, added that “it was a privilege to spend time with the wonderful Grace Cares volunteers”.
Having lost family members to terminal illnesses, I have some understanding of how difficult it can be to support others and the toll it can take.
Grace Cares and its wonderful volunteers do an incredible job of making life easier for vulnerable people and their carers, while also contributing positively to the circular economy. Breathwork is a simple but powerful tool that can help regulate the nervous system, manage stress and calm the body and mind. It was wonderful to see the group give it a go, come together and support one another. Wellbeing isn’t a luxury. It’s what helps us to keep showing up for ourselves and others.
Grace Cares holds twice-yearly Coffee, Cake and Catch Up sessions, giving volunteers a chance to connect, share experiences and feel supported as part of the Grace Cares community.
