The club welcomes women aged 45 and over who are interested in friendship, fun and giving back to the community.
Members of Lichfield Ladies Tangles last month gathered alongside local charities at The Duke of York, Greenhill, to celebrate a successful year of fundraising at their first ever cheque presentation night.
The group, part of the National Association of Tangent Clubs, is made up of around 30 local women aged 45 and over who meet regularly to build friendships through activities, all while supporting charitable causes.
This year, the group proudly raised a total of £3,574.68, supporting eight charities.
One thousand pounds of this was donated to Holly Trust, chosen by last year’s Chair of Lichfield Ladies Tangles. Jackie explained that she chose Holly Trust, a local bowel cancer charity, because of the support they offer to those living locally, but also as a way of raising awareness among a relevant audience.
The club also presented cheques to five other local charities, selected through member nominations: Pathway Project, Read Easy UK, St Giles Hospice, Buddy Bag Foundation and Stan Bowley Trust.
In addition, the Tangles responded to an urgent need earlier in the year by donating to Friends2Friends. And its chosen national charity, The British Heart Foundation, was also supported, and was represented on the presentation night by former Tangent Clubs National President Josie Blackburn.
Funds were raised through a variety of engaging activities, including a family quiz night, participation in a Santa sleigh event and Lichfield Round Table, and regular raffles at club meetings. Members also contributed through personal donations.

The cheque presentation evening brought together representatives from many of the supported charities, providing an opportunity to celebrate the impact of the club’s efforts and raise awareness of the causes supported.
Lesley’s chosen charity for the coming year is Pathway Project.
Lichfield Ladies Tangles meets every three weeks, offering a varied programme of activities – ranging from line dancing and cake decorating to hands-on experiences, like lamb feeding – alongside ongoing fundraising initiatives.
