As New Year thoughts turn to health and fitness, St Anne’s Church and Community Hub in Chasetown is highlighting its wide programme of physical and mental wellbeing activities available to the local community.
A Men’s Wellbeing Walk and a Women’s Wellbeing Walk, run in association with Burntwood Be A Friend, take place on Mondays and Thursdays respectively. Suitable for adults of all ages and abilities, the walks set off from St Anne’s at 10am and offer a chance to enjoy gentle exercise while chatting and meeting others.
For those with young children, a Strollers Buggy Walk for babies, toddlers and their carers takes place on Mondays at 9.30am. Following the walk, families are invited to a Stay and Play session at St Anne’s. Both activities are run in association with Spark Burntwood and are generously supported by the Noel Sweeney Foundation.
The Community Garden, also in association with Burntwood Be A Friend, is open to all on Thursdays at 10am. The sessions offer gentle physical activity while helping to develop and maintain the garden space at St Anne’s.
Creative wellbeing is supported through the Art Group, which meets on Mondays at 1.30pm. The group is valued not only for fostering creativity but also as a welcoming social space, with examples of members’ artwork displayed in the church.
Further activities supporting mental wellbeing include the Place of Welcome Community Café, held on Thursdays from 11am to 1pm, and the Men’s Dry Pub, which takes place on Thursdays at 2pm. Both offer opportunities to meet others and enjoy refreshments in a relaxed setting.
In partnership with Burntwood Be A Friend, free counselling sessions are also available at St Anne’s as part of the Wellbeing Works Project, which is part funded by Burntwood Town Council and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust. Further details are available from the Parish Office.
Winter can be an especially lonely time, and everyone is welcome at St Anne’s to be part of its friendly and supportive community.
